In an unprecedented feat in the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ has been appointed as the PNPโs first-ever female Dean of Academics. This marks a historic milestone as she broke the glass ceiling of leading a longtime male-dominated institution.
A graduate of the ๐ฃ๐ก๐ฃ๐ “๐๐๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฌ” ๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ญ๐ต๐ต๐ฒ, she made great strides in law enforcement and consistently demonstrated excellence throughout her career.
A trailblazer, she was also hailed as the first female Chief of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division of the Women and Children Protection Center, the unit responsible for enforcing laws protecting victims of trafficking in persons. During her stint in the WCPC, she was recognized for prosecuting domestic and foreign offenders through efficient collaboration with local and international development partners. Her leadership has been significant in maintaining the highest ranking or Tier 1 status of the Philippines in the United Statesโ State Department’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report for seven consecutive years since 2018.
She is also a staunch advocate for gender equality and has actively encouraged greater participation of women in leadership roles in PNP.
As Dean of Academics, she oversees the academic programs and curriculum development. Her leadership is focused on equipping cadets with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to meet the complexities of modern policing. She emphasizes innovation, critical thinking, and character development to ensure cadets are well-prepared as public servants.
Beyond her career, PCOL PORTENTO is a dedicated wife and mother of three, balancing her professional responsibilities with family life.
Her appointment represents progress for the PNPA and highlights women’s vital contributions to law enforcement. Her leadership and commitment paved the way for future generations to excel in public service.
