OFFICE OF THE DEAN

  • Administers and supervises the implementation of the academic components of the Bachelor of Science in Public Safety (BSPS) Cadetship Program.
  • Develop and maintain the academic standard of excellence, curriculum, and faculty development of the Group.
  • Develop strategies to improve educational opportunities In the Academy and raise the level of expectation regarding public safety education.
  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate activities and programs necessary for the dispensation of function of the different departments of the Academic Group and its improvement;
  • Conduct collaborative researches related to the functions of the different departments with the purpose of enhancing the academic performance of the cadets and/or the system of Instruction and Its management.
  • Conduct regular consultation with the different departments and faculty members on academic issues and concerns regarding the learning packages specifically on course objectives, Instructional methods, course outline, schedule, learning Indicators, teaching materials, rubric for grading, evaluation techniques, and other projects for cadet development.
  • Check the correctness, reliability, accuracy, and validity of assessments/examinations of the different Departments based on approved standards.
  • Maintain linkages with other educational institution and public safety agencies in harnessing and developing courses under the different Departments of the Group.
  • Act as a member of CAC.

Academics Personnel and Records Management Division

  • Assists the Dean of Academics in the exercise of control and supervision pertaining to Personnel and Records Management, Financial Management, Logistical Management and Human Resource Development of ACADG personnel;
  • It also studies and provides information, analysis and recommendation to the Dean of Academics
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and staffing of ACADG;
  • Monitor and conduct performance evaluation of all ACADG personnel;
  • Responsible in record management and ensure the efficient flow of communication on ACADG administrative matters;
  • Recommend guidelines for the human resource and organizational development of ACADG and its personnel.

Curriculum Development Division

  • Assist the Dean of Academics in all matters pertaining to Curriculum Development.
  • Recommend salient update or revision of curriculum as an output of periodic curriculum review and assessment.
  • Monitor and supervise the implementation of SLP, and conduct periodic review and assessment;
  • Periodic enhancement of Syllabus and Standard Learning Package (SLP) of all subjects offered to the cadets; and Recommend updates on syllabus and SLP based on the output of research and immersion conducted by the FDD.

Faculty Development Division

  • Assist the Dean of Academics in all undertaking relative to Faculty Development;
  • Responsible in crafting of Quality Selection Standard and recommend faculty classification and ranking for the approval of the Dean of Academics;
  • Prepare plans for teaching loads of professor and schedule of classes;
  • Supervise classroom activities and Evaluate faculty performance;
  • Recommend and facilitate seminars, workshops and other related activities pertaining to faculty development; and
  • Conduct and Facilitate research and immersion related to actual applications of the courses in the field.

Test Development and Standard Division

  • Assist the Dean of Academics in the implementation of Test and Examination policies as prescribed by the Academic Guide;
  • Responsible for the implementation of the regulations and procedures in administering cadet examination;
  • Ensure standard tests are administered to the cadets;
  • Safeguard the integrity of cadets’ examinations;
  • Ensure that cadets are promptly appraised of the result of examinations;
  • Provide the Dean of Academics the results of evaluation of the cadets’ academics performance;
  • Exercise record management and control of all test related documents; and Prepare the Academic Final Order of Merit of graduating class and Semester Order of Merit of the cadets.

ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS

Department of Learning Resource

  • Maintain a well-organized, efficient, and accountable informational and instructional resources to aid the needs of the Faculty Members, Instructors, and the Cadets.
  • Ensure availability of equipment, supplies, reference materials, printing requirements and facilities, including technical and specialized study materials needed to keep the faculty abreast with modern technology in their field of specialization necessary for the training and education of the Cadets.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the different learning resource facilities Including the Library, Forensic Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, Printing and Reproduction facilities, and other facilities and services In the Academy.
  • Provide access to Information technologies, print resources, and systems which help students and teachers Increase academic achievement including access to a web portal that will serve as an online or offline catalogue and repository of the learning aide that will facilitate the cadets and the faculty.
  • Render lectures in coordination with the different Departments to provide Instructors and cadets the necessary knowledge and skills in utilizing the different Informational and Instructional resources of the Academy.
  • Assist instructors in developing and delivering computer assisted classroom activities to support and supplement lecture classes.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Director, PNPA.

Department of General Education

  • Perform teaching or teaching-related duties In the field of general education, such as: History/Rizal, Understanding The Self, Humanities/Art Appreciation, Social Science/Politics & Governance, Math, Communication Arts, Science Technology and Society and ICT.
  • Exercise general instructional and academic supervision over faculty and staff members of the Department of General Education.
  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate performance of faculty members/instructors within the department in terms of Instructional and pedagogical tasks.
  • Conduct trainings and seminars in order to equip faculty members/instructors with new and up-to-date techniques in providing preparatory education and training to cadets to cope with the changing nature of educational Instruction and management.
  • Consult regularly with the Dean of Academic Group on the different policies and guidelines needed in enhancing the academic performance of the cadets through departmental Interventions.
  • Conduct regular evaluation of activities and programs necessary for the enhancement of the learning process of the cadets and the Improvement of the faculty in providing preparatory education and training.
  • Maintain linkages with CHED and other educational and public safety Institutions in improving and harnessing the General Education subjects as well as the development of General Education teachers/instructors.
  • Harmonize General Education courses with the required learning competencies of police officers in the field.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Director, PNPA.

Department of Research and Development

  • Perform teaching or teaching-related duties in the field of research and statistics.
  • Exercise general supervision of faculty and staff members of the Department.
  • Recommends rules, guidelines, and policies to be adopted by the Academic Group for the conduct of academic researches.
  • Craft and enhance the research agenda of the PNPA in line with the program thrusts and research agenda of the Philippine National Police.
  • Conduct collaborative researches to enhance the academic performance of the cadets and/or the system of instruction and its management.
  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate faculty members/Instructors within the Department In terms of Instructional and pedagogical tasks.
  • Participate in various developmental trainings and seminars relative to the enhancement of research culture In the Academy.
  • Prepare budgetary allocations for the conduct of Thesis Defense both for proposal and final oral defense.
  • Spearhead the publication of the PNPA Research Journal and other research activities such as the conduct of research colloquia for the cadets or for the faculty members.
  • Submit research proposals to the Plans and Strategy Management Division for the Institutional research undertakings.
  • Collaborate with other educational Institutions In harnessing and developing courses under DRD as well as the development of its faculty members. Perform other tasks as directed by the Director. PNPA.

Department of Public Safety

  • Perform teaching or teaching-related duties In the field of laws and Jurisprudence, such as: Criminal Law I & II, Evidence/Criminal Procedures, Special Laws, Political Law/Criminal Justice System, Legal Forms and others.
  • Exercise general supervision of faculty and staff members of the Department of Laws and Jurisprudence.
  • Collaborate with different Institutions and other organizations for the development of law courses and other technical courses within the Department.
  • Participate in various conferences and professional continuing education in law and other criminalistics courses.
  • Harmonize law courses in relation to the required learning competencies of police officers in the field.
  • Provide seminars to the cadets and to the faculty members for law/criminal related courses.
  • Initiate, implement, and evaluate activities and programs necessary for the dispensation of function of the department and Its Improvement.
  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate faculty members/Instructors within the department in terms of Instructional and pedagogical tasks.
  • Conduct trainings and seminars in order to equip faculty members/instructors to the changing nature of educational Instruction and management.
  • Conduct collaborative researchers related to the functions of the department with the purpose of enhancing the academic performance of the cadets and/or the system of instruction and its management.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Director, PNPA.

Department of Police Administration

  • Perform teaching or teaching-related duties in the field of police administration, such as: Investigation, Intelligence, Operational Communication, Police-Community Relations, Personnel Management, Logistics, Organization and Management, Disciplinary Machinery in the Police Service and others.
  • Exercise general Instructional and academic supervision over faculty and staff members of the Department of Police Administration.
  • Assist In the development of the curricula in police administration for Inclusions In the learning package for the Department.
  • Develop, Implement, manage, and evaluate training programs to ensure the enhancement of the management skills of cadets in the field of police administration.
  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate performance of faculty members/ Instructors within the department in terms of instructional and pedagogical tasks.
  • Conduct regular trainings and seminars in order to equip faculty members/ Instructors with new and up-to-date techniques in providing preparatory education and training to cadets to cope with the changing nature of educational Instruction and management.

  • Harmonize police administration courses with the required learning competencies of police officers in the field.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Director, PNPA.

Department of Forensic Science

  • Exercise general supervision of faculty and staff members of the Department of Forensic Science.
  • Initiate, implement, and evaluate activities and programs necessary in the enhancement of the learning process of the cadet and the improvement of the faculty in providing preparatory education and training in the field of forensic science.
  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate faculty members/Instructors within the department in terms of instructional and pedagogical tasks.
  • Conduct trainings and seminars in order to equip faculty members/instructors to the changing nature of educational Instruction and management particularly in forensic science.
  • Coordinate with the tri-bureaus the needed learning Insights Intended for classroom Instructions specifically in forensic science courses.
  • Initiate activities and other undertakings for the promotion and development of forensic science courses based on the demands of time and recent innovations.
  • Collaborate with the other heads of departments in harmonizing the learning content of other courses in so far as to the practicability of its use in forensic science courses.
  • Establishes linkages with other educational and public safety Institution in Improving and harnessing the forensic science courses of the Academy.
  • Harmonize forensic science courses in relation to the required learning competencies of police officers in the field.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Director, PNPA.
