President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the 45th Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Commencement Exercises for the 223 cadets of the ‘Layag-Diwa’ Class of 2024 at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda in Silang, Cavite on April 19, 2024.

With this year’s theme, ‘Hinubog ng Tamang Edukasyon at Pagsasanay Upang Harapin ang Hamon ng Bagong Pilipinas,’ the Cadet Corps of the PNP render a Parade and Review in honor of President Marcos Jr. and the ‘Layag-Diwa’ Class of 2024. The class acronym stands for ‘Lingkod-Bayang may Adhikaing Buksan ang Bagong Yugto at Gabayan ang Bagong Henerasyon na may Dangal, Integridad at Walang Alinlangan.’

Out of the 223 cadets, consisting of 182 males and 41 females, Police Cadet Ma. Camille Cabasis, a Batangueña from Lian, Batangas, emerged as the top student in her class and is honored as the class valedictorian. She is awarded with the following distinctions: the Presidential Kampilan, PNP Chief Kampilan, Plaque of Merit Graduating No. 1, Best in Laws and Jurisprudence, and Best in Police Administration.

The ‘Layag-Diwa’ Class of 2024 is the final group of PNPA graduates who will be assigned to the Tri-Bureau Service, comprising the PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail and Penology (BJMP). This transition is in accordance with Republic Act (R.A.) No. 11279 which amended R.A. No. 6975 by transferring the organizational control and management of the PNPA from the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) to the PNP. Starting in 2025, the PNPA will focus exclusively on producing Police Lieutenants.
