Silang, Cavite- The Lakan Community gathered once more as the Philippine National Police Academy celebrated its 44th Grand Alumni Homecoming 2024 with the theme: “Nagkakaisang Lakan tungo sa Ligtas, Payapa at Matatag na Bayan.” The event was held on March 8–9, 2024, at the PNPA grounds in Camp General Mariano N Castañeda, Silang, Cavite. This esteemed Lakan Community was comprised of hundreds of alumni from various classes across the nation.
The occasion was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Senator Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr., PGEN Benjamin C Acorda Jr., LAKAN Gilberto DC Cruz, and Director of PNPA, PMGEN Samuel C Nacion, among others, adding to the significance and grandeur of the event.
The annual Grand Alumni Homecoming is a cherished tradition for the PNPA, providing a platform for alumni to reunite, rekindle old friendships, and reminisce about their academy days. It is a testament to the enduring bonds formed within the PNPA community and the commitment of its alumni to the service of the nation. Moreover, these events represent more than just a reunion; it symbolizes the enduring connection between the alumni and their Alma Mater, fostering a sense of pride and solidarity in contributing to the continuous development and progress of the institution.
In a solemn tribute to honor departed alumni, a wreath-laying ceremony was organized, led by the LAKAN Gilberto DC Cruz. This heartfelt gesture served as a reminder of the enduring bond shared by the Academy’s alumni community, as they paid homage to those who have passed away.
To honor the Guest of Honor and Speaker an arrival honor was accorded to Senator Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, underscoring the significance of the occasion. His presence added a touch of solemnity and reverence to the proceedings, acknowledging the importance of the alumni’s contributions to society. Highlighting the event was the alumni parade, where all the graduates of the Academy marched while holding their class banners displaying a solidarity, symbolizing the enduring spirit of the Academy and its alumni.
In a gesture aimed at providing entertainment for its alumni, the PNPA “SILANG-PAGLAOM” Class of 2026, displayed precision and skill through a silent drill and slow drill performance. Symbolizing the camaraderie and unity of the graduate of the Academy, these drills showcased the discipline and proficiency instilled in the future leaders of law enforcement.
In the message of Senator Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the PNPA alumni for their continued service to the nation and its people. He also acknowledged the crucial roles of the tri-bureaus in enforcing laws and upholding the values of courage, integrity, and commitment to duty. Furthermore, he reiterated his commitment in supporting the tri-bureaus for their improvement, stating, “We value deeply your great selflessness and sacrifices, and we recognize your work to be foundation of our country’s growth. We cannot, after all, pursue progress without first securing peace, and so the Senate is always here to work with you in our shared responsibility in providing genuine and lasting peace in our communities and in our country.”
As the PNPA celebrates its 44th Grand Alumni Homecoming, this signifies the commitment of the Academy to produce competent leaders and dedicated public servants who uphold the values of justice, integrity, and service to the Filipino people.
