The grandest star has now been officially lit and revealed to the cadet corps—bringing life to an annual tradition.

For a brief overview, The Lighting of the Giant Star has been a long-standing culture in the Academy dating from 1992. Every year, it is an event anticipated by lakans to reminisce their memories as former cadets. Thus, visitors and guests surge to the cadet corps, who have opened its doors to showcase the area decorated and embellished of holiday elements for the coming Christmas, while the cadet dormitories are illuminated from head to toe which is truly, an extraordinary sight to see last November 29.

Graced by many lakan generals and the like, there was the presence of the brightest star of them all, the very honourable chief—PGEN BENJAMIN CASUGA ACORDA JR, who was filled with awe after seeing the art display in the star’s pentagon— the image of the birth of Jesus Christ, the true essence of the yuletide season. Completing the picture are the five rays of the star who also depicted images of cadets interaction with the key officials of tri-bureaus, the Department of Interior and Local Government, and the Academy itself.

With a theme, “Celebrating the Solemnity of the Yuletide Season with Service and Compassion,” the tactics group along with the cadets themselves spent many tireless days and sleepless nights for the majestic celebration. Various activities were also offered to showcase the cadets’ artistic prowess and versatility—from making handicrafts to engaging in multimedia arts and performing creative stunts.

In the traditional parol making contest, each companies presented their own gimmicks. From the eight competing companies, GOLF company bagged the 1st place with ‘Illuminare’—which highlighted the Philippine eagle with an automated mechanism that move its own. As for the film-making competition, the ECHO company won the hearts of many with their film ‘Kape,’ and its everyday relevance to many walkthroughs in life. Lastly, for the jingle-making, the Fourth Battalion (GOLF AND HAWK Company) were able to sway the attention of the judges with their fun and exciting performance.

Overall, the success of the lighting of the giant star cements the legacy of the ruling class, LAYAG-DIWA class of 2024, as this serves as an indication of their approaching graduation—with high hopes for their respective anahaw to fall on their shoulder. With the star unveiled, the future becomes clearer for them and the glory that lies ahead.
