Silang, Cavite – The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) stays strong with its motto “To Learn today, to lead tomorrow”, as they start the week anew with the Traditional Flag Raising Ceremony spearheaded by its Deputy Director, PBGEN Jonathan A Cabal, at the BGEN Cicero Campos Grandstand on October 16, 2023.

As the Deputy Director of the prestigious Academy, PBGEN Cabal shared his guidance to the cadets by emphasizing on the wisdom of Sun Tzu’s timeless quote: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.” However, he took it a step further by underscoring the significance of understanding one’s own strengths and weaknesses. Deputy Director Cabal stressed that cadets, as future public safety officers, must know their forces and enemies as well as their strengths and weaknesses. With this, the Deputy Director also stressed to the cadets the value of caring for one another as he reminded them to view their superiors as mentors rather than tormentors.

In a nod to the ever-evolving landscape of our world, the Deputy Director urged the cadets to stay informed and vigilant in these rapidly changing times. He boldly announced the introduction of laptops even for the 4th class cadets, recognizing that “our enemies are now in cyberspace.” He encouraged cadets to bolster their skills and knowledge in this digital realm while emphasizing the importance of responsibility. Using laptops does not grant permission to breach the academy’s rules and regulations.

Ending his speech, the Deputy Director addressed the concerning issue of deficient cadets in both academics and tactics. He highlighted the importance of time management and urged cadets to grasp this vital skill to thrive academically and tactically.
