Makati City—The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) on June 29, 2023 takes a significant step forward in its commitment to upholding excellence in the field of law enforcement as it forges a partnership with the UNODC – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Today, the PNPA, led by PMGEN Eric E. Noble, together with PBGEN Alfredo K. Dangani, Chief of Staff, and PCOL Arnold P. Ardiente, Dean of Academics, along with selected cadets, participated in the UNODC and PNPA Declaration of Partnership Signing at the United Nations Headquarters in Manila.
This groundbreaking partnership aims to strengthen ties and build camaraderie between the PNPA and UNODC led by its Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Mr Gustavo Gonzáles, fostering a collaborative and cooperative environment where both organizations can work together to further their shared mission of ensuring peace, security, and development in the Philippines.
By combining their expertise, resources, and networks, the PNPA and UNODC will work hand in hand in crucial areas such as crime prevention, law enforcement training, and capacity-building initiatives. This partnership will enhance the PNPA’s training programs and equip cadets with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to address emerging challenges in law enforcement effectively.
Through this collaboration, the PNPA cadets will have access to specialized training programs conducted by UNODC experts. They will receive training in areas such as anti-corruption efforts, combating illicit drugs, human trafficking prevention, and criminal justice reform. This comprehensive training will not only empower the future leaders of the Philippine law enforcement but also contribute to the country’s overall security and development.
The partnership is expected to pave the way for information sharing and best practice exchange between the PNPA and UNODC. The PNPA will benefit from the UNODC’s vast experience in international law enforcement, while the UNODC will gain insights into the Philippine context and strengthen its cooperation with the national law enforcement agencies.
The PNPA is honored to be chosen as a partner of the UNODC. This collaboration reflects the PNPA’s dedication to excellence, professionalism, and continuous improvement. It is a testament to the academy’s commitment to produce highly skilled and morally upright law enforcement professionals who will serve and protect the Filipino people with unwavering dedication.
Through the PNPA and UNODC partnership, the Philippine law enforcement community can expect stronger collaboration, enhanced training, and improved capability to combat crime, drugs, and other transnational threats. This partnership serves as a stepping-stone towards a safer and more secure Philippines, where the rule of law and justice prevail.
