Malvar, Batangas—Four members of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Layag-Diwa Class of 2024 have been selected to represent the Academy in the 25th Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC) held on June 20 to 24, 2023 at Lima Park Hotel, Malvar, Batangas.

The four cadets were chosen from over 2,000 applicants who underwent an intense screening process to select the 84 delegates from different schools and universities. This year’s event marks the first face-to-face edition since the start of the pandemic, bringing together youth leaders from different backgrounds and sectors to collaborate and spread awareness on empowerment and social inclusion for national development and progress.

The PNPA delegation includes Cdt 1C Jonjea Kamille Amparro of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, who recently participated in the 2023 IHL Concours Jean-Pictet Competition in Albania; Cdt 1C Maria Teresa Dela Cruz, of Kananga, Leyte; Cdt 1C Patrick Gascon of Koronadal City, South Cotabato; and Cdt 1C Rovic Catungal of Malasiqui, Pangasinan. They were selected because they have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. They exemplify passion about making a difference and have the skills to drive their ideas turn into action.

According to PMGen Eric E. Noble, Director, PNPA, the selection of the cadets reflects the PNPA’s commitment to producing not just outstanding law enforcement officers but also responsible and proactive members of society. “We are proud of our cadets and their selection to represent the Academy at the Ayala Young Leaders’ Congress is a testament to their capabilities as future leaders of our nation,” he adds.

The Ayala Young Leaders’ Congress is one of the largest and most prestigious gatherings of youth leaders in the country, providing an excellent platform for young minds to exchange ideas, network, and engage in meaningful discussions that could lead to positive change in society.

“We congratulate the four PNPA cadets who will represent not only the Academy but also the entire law enforcement community in this year’s Ayala Young Leaders’ Congress,” says PMGen Noble. “We are confident that their participation in this event will equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to become effective leaders in their respective fields and make a substantial contribution to the development of our nation.”
