PNPA PRESS RELEASE CONTROL NO. 2022-21

AUTHORITY: PBGEN ERIC E NOBLE, Director, PNPA
ACTION OFFICER: PLTCOL LOUIE DC GONZAGA, Chief Public Information Office
DATE: October 11, 2022

Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City—As a primer to many more inter-academy engagements line-up for this year as espoused by the Director, PNPA, PBGEN Eric E Noble, contingents from the Philippine National Police Academy visited the Philippine Military Academy at Fort General Gregorio H. Del Pilar in Baguio City on October 7-9, 2022, with the goal of strengthening ties between the two prestigious educational and training institutions in the country. PCOL Jaysen C De Guzman, Acting Commandant of Cadets, and other commissioned and non-commissioned police officers led the two-day benchmarking on policy and guidelines for forty (40) selected first-class cadets of the MASIDTALAK Class of 2023.

Upon their arrival as is customary, the PNPA cadets and officers paid a courtesy call to the 83rd PMA Superintendent, MGEN Rowen S Tolentino (PA). During the visit, the PMA’s existing programs and policies that can help the PNPA adopt and implement the best practices observed by cadets of their contemporaries were thoroughly discussed.

During the visit, to emphasize sports development as a means of fostering camaraderie and establishing strong ties between the two service academies, PNPA and PMA cadets participated in volleyball, basketball, and football tune-up games. Both service academies recognize sports as a means that help the cadets refine their character, broaden their strategic and analytic thinking, improve their leadership skills and goal-setting, embrace risk analysis, and foster brotherhood as part of their synonymous arduous four-year training journey. By overcoming difficult inclines and serpentine routes, the PNPA cadets demonstrated their parity with the CCAFP.

Furthermore, they actively participated in a 21-kilometer (half-marathon) run with a predetermined route that began at PMA, traversed Kennon Road, and returned to the academy. In accordance with the celebration of intramurals, this is an essential component of the physical requirements for cadets. After enduring the frigid temperatures of the Cordilleras’ highlands was the time the PNPA contingent was treated by the PMA Band and the Silent Drill Company of the PMA’s MADASIGON Class of 2023 to an exhibition.

As the activities come to a close, a strong foundation of cooperation and brotherhood was rekindled. The cadets of these service academies—Iskolars Para Sa Bayan—as future leaders, will be a bastion of hope for security, peace and order for the general welfare of the Filipino people. (PNPA-PIO)
