Silang, Cavite- The Philippine National Police Academy, under the leadership of PMGEN SAMUEL C NACION, Director PNPA, spearheaded the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony. This event, coupled with the recognition and awarding of deserving cadets, took place at the BGen Cicero Campos Grandstand, Camp General Mariano N Castañeda, Silang, Cavite, on February 5, 2024.
A week full of encouragement and aspirations, the event started with the inspiring quote, “When you feel like quitting, think about why you started.” The Monday Flag Raising Ceremony symbolizes unity, patriotism, dreams, and a shared goal.
Through the inspiring message delivered by NUP Mirasol V. Gabrillo, PNPA Guidance Counselor, she emphasized the importance of humility and humble leadership; she said, “Humility is often misunderstood in the context of leadership. Some think that showing humility is being weak or submissive. On the contrary, it is a character of strength—an essential component of moral character manifested in modesty, empathy, respect, and understanding.” She also encouraged the cadets to be humble, outstanding leaders who are eager to learn from others, to be approachable and forgiving, to be appreciative, to foster trust, active participation, and optimism, and to generally influence the people they lead to stellar work performance.
In her closing message, she stated, “As you advance in your rank and experience success after success, you might find your heads in the clouds, but make sure your feet always stay on the ground. The higher the climb and more achievements you reap, the more humble and thankful you should be” ending with quoting words from Rick Warren “Humility is NOT thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less.”
