Silang-Cavite- A weeklong embrace of camaraderie serves as a catalyst for nurturing a thriving and cohesive environment, ultimately leading to positive outcomes and shared success. The Philippine National Police Academy, under the leadership of PMGEN SAMUEL C NACION, Director, PNPA, holds a week with the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony and Distinguished Visitors Program with HON. FLORENCIO M. BERNABE JR., the Assistant Secretary for Public Safety of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) as the Guest of Honor and Speaker on January 22, 2024, at the hallowed grounds of BGen Cicero Campos Grandstand, Camp General Mariano N Castañeda, Silang, Cavite. The event was highlighted with the Awarding and Pinning of Badges for Dean’s Listers for the 1st Academic Term of Academic Year 2023-2024.
The week commenced with the Flag Raising Ceremony, underscoring leadership and commitment to service, prompting reflection on the shared values and aspirations symbolized by the flag. It emphasized working for the common good with a renewed sense of purpose and the responsibilities inherent in serving the nation.
A total of 95 cadets were awarded the Badges for Dean’s Listers, showcasing their excellence in their academics. This achievement reflects their commitment to further develop their intellectual prowess, which will be invaluable as they pursue careers as future officers in the police service. During their academic journey, they had the opportunity to learn from distinguished professors and officers who are renowned in their respective fields, gaining new insights and knowledge. Beyond academic achievements, these cadets are being molded into well-rounded individuals capable of generating innovative ideas, effective management, and solutions to address existing challenges in community safety and security.
Pursuant to Section 2, Rule 15 of the Revised PNPA Academic Guide (2021), A cadet needs to obtain a weighted average rating of at least 90% Equivalent Grade (EG) or 8.4 Grade Point Average (GPA) in all academic courses, provided that they do not have any academic courses with a rating of less than 85% (EG) or 7.6 (GPA).
In ASEC. FLORENCIO M. BERNABE JR.’s message, he emphasized the significance of service, honor, pride, and commitment that define the Philippine National Police Academy. He urged the cadets to uphold the law and protect the communities they serve. “With you as the next bearers and successors of leadership in the tri-bureau, let it be a constant reminder that policing and service in jail and fire is not just a profession; it is a calling and a commitment to serving and protecting our communities with integrity, fairness, and courage,” he said. In concluding his message, he added, “While many great leaders before you, most of them emerged into prominent, post war or revolution, I say that we need not only war or atrocities before one step into the lifeline. Dedication to the pledge is what elevates a leader to greatness.”
