Silang, Cavite\u2014The Philippine National Police Academy<\/a> Corps Squad received a rare opportunity to enhance their basketball skills during a 5-hour Basketball Skills Clinic held on June 20, 2023, at NPC Gymnasium, Camp Gen Mariano N Casta\u00f1eda, Silang, Cavite. Coach Phil Handy, Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> Asst Coach and Player Development Trainer, led the clinic and shared his impressive coaching expertise with the 20 cadets from different classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Director of PNPA, PMGen Eric E. Noble<\/a> warmly greeted Coach Phil and his team. During the introduction, PMGen Noble conveyed the academy’s gratitude for having Coach Phil share his insights and talents in basketball. “We feel privileged to have Coach Phil Handy with us, and we are confident that he will guide and inspire our cadets to enhance their abilities on the basketball court,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The clinic allowed the cadets to gain insights on the latest basketball training methods and techniques, while learning skills to improve their basketball performance. Coach Phil Handy’s coaching is highly sought-after worldwide, and the cadets will significantly benefit from his coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He has an impressive coaching resume, having worked with many professional teams in the NBA<\/a>, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors<\/a>, and Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>. He has conducted several clinics worldwide and worked with top NBA athletes such as Kahwi Leonard, LeBron James<\/a>, and the late Kobe Bryant<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the clinic, Coach Phil discussed important fundamentals in basketball, such as ball handling, passing, and shooting, as well as advanced techniques on footwork, dribbling, and mental toughness. The cadets were thrilled to work with Coach Handy firsthand and imbibe insights they can apply in their future games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “I am grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with these cadets.
